All Camp Tecumseh
Adventure Trips provide great group
experiences that are filled with fun, and sometimes challenges! They require
trippers to work together, developing personal responsibility and mutual
respect. There are still daily devotions and an emphasis on the “I’m Third”
motto to guide the group’s actions. Each camper and camper parent must commit to
a code of behavior outlined in the Camper Contract.
All Camp Tecumseh YMCA adventure trips travel in ‘The Chariot’, a wide-body,
airport limo-type vehicle complete with high back reclining seats and video
player! We camp along the way on each trip and the group
works as a team preparing the campsite, cooking and cleaning up meals, and other
camping responsibilities.
All
trips are led by outstanding Camp Tecumseh staff members experienced in working
with teen campers.
The goal of each trip is
for campers to make friends as they grow in responsibility
and faith as they explore some of America’s most beautiful
places. 2008 will be Camp Tecumseh’s 37th
year of adventure trips. |

We offer a variety of
adventures for you to experience during the summer: a Camp Tecumseh experience
plus, exploring beautiful parts of this great country!
June 15 - 21, 2008, $925.00
July 6 - 12, 2008, $925.00
Are you looking for a non-stop, action-packed, thrilling adventure unlike anything you have ever experienced before at Camp? If you said yes, then the week-long White Water Rafting trip is the adventure for you.
On your trip you will raft through Class 3 and 4 rapids on the Nantahala, Chatooga, and Ocoee rivers flowing through North and South Carolina, and Tennessee. We raft the Nantahala in Duckies—these cool, one person, kayak-like rafts. Even novices can use them! Then we are moving on to bigger rapids in the next two rivers
The Chatooga offers endless thrills, from body-surfing on a water hydraulic to diving into underwater caverns, this river won’t disappoint. The Chatooga also has the distinction of being one of the two naturally flowing rapids in the United States! Finally, we end the trip with the Ocoee River—a challenge to even the most seasoned rafters. You are going to get wet! And laugh a lot!
We spend our afternoons swimming and exploring the southern states. Every night we have a ball practicing our “outdoorsman” skills: camping, cooking, and building campfires. Some think this is even more fun that rafting! We camp at the Cherokee campground, bordering one of the nation’s more well known American Indian reservations. The White Water Rafting Adventure Trip is one you won’t want to miss!

June 22 - July 5, 2008, $1925.00
Florida Keys Sailing is a must for those who love the sun, marine life, water, the open ocean and sailing. The Camp Tecumseh Sail Trip will start south of Miami, Florida and take place off the shore of places like Rodriguez Key, Port Largo, and Elliott Key for 5 1/2 days on the boat. You are part of the crew and will be responsible for cooking, cleaning, setting sail, sailing, anchoring, etc. You will become part of a functioning team! The trip is full of swimming, snorkeling, sunning, sailing, and spending time with your new friends on the boat!
August 2 - 9, 2008, $1015.00
The Horse Pack Adventure trip is for those who want to experience nature from a different viewpoint: the back of a horse! We will be traveling to the Mountain Trail Horse Center (MTHC) in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania for our adventure trip. MTHC is located in north central Pennsylvania, about one hour north of Williamsport. The MTHC is 350 acres of beautiful terrain situated in the middle of the Allegheny Mountains. The property we will be riding on sits near thousands of acres of majestic state forest. During our trip, we will venture out for three days on the trail, taking advantage of the beauty of the creeks, rivers, valleys, and the overlooks of the Grand Canyon on Pennsylvania! Our well trained and experienced equestrian staff team up with riding staff from MHTC to provide an opportunity that few experience! (Please be aware that this trip leaves on a Saturday.)
And, you don’t have to
have been an Equestrian camper here to go on this trip! There is a short
questionnaire and test to access your riding ability that will let us know if
you are ready for this great adventure! |
