Day Camp is an exciting adventure for boys and girls 5 to 12 years old. Camp Tecumseh’s 500 acres provides an awesome site with great activites! How about instructional and recreational swimming at camp’s two beautiful swimming pools. Creative endeavors like arts and crafts and lots of singing! Campers love to go for a horseback ride, play big games like Gold Rush, and take part in special events like World Service Carnival. Then add camp favorites like visiting the animals at the mini-farm, trying their hand at shooting a bow and arrow or an air rifle, of course under the watchful supervision of a well-trained staff member! Other favorites include hiking to the creek or the lake, sliding down the Black Hole or visiting the Nature Center. Activities are tailored for the specific age units so Day Campers can progress steadily as they get older.

The key to Camp Tecumseh’s 32 years of Day Camp success is the counselors. They are chosen for their desire to be good role models for the campers, for their enthusiasm, and for their commitment to helping each camper to feel good about themselves and to learn to get along well with others. Character counts at Camp Tecumseh and we help campers grow in caring, respect, responsibility and faith. For example, each day begins with a joyful morning chapel. Simple life-lessons are shared in creative ways by the staff to help campers grow in their character.
So the whole family can enjoy the fun of Camp Tecumseh Day Camp, there is even a special Thursday evening carry-in dessert event with Day Campers performing for their parents! Who is Day Camp for?
Day Camp is for boys and girls ages 5-12.
How will my
child be placed into his or her trail group?
Day Camp is divided into units by age for the purpose of providing activities that are age appropriate; the age units are: Blazers (5-6), Rangers (7-8), Explorers (9-10), and Voyagers (11-12). Each camper is placed into a trail group with two of our staff and 10-13 other campers about their own age.
Can my camper
be placed with his or her friend?
Campers may request to with one other trail mate. The trail mate request must be no more than one year older or younger than that of the camper. Camp Tecumseh will try to accommodate your trail mate request, but because of circumstance may not be able to. Camp is a place to make new friends, and tries not to group several friends together, as it detracts from the camp experience for other campers in the trail group.
What
will my camper need to bring?
Each day your child will need to bring the following items with them to Day Camp in a backpack (your child will be carrying these items with them throughout the day):
- A sack lunch – Please pack your child’s lunch in a brown paper bag with their first & last name written on the front. Lunches will be refrigerated upon arrival.
- Bathing suit & towel – Please send your child’s swimsuit and towel to camp in a plastic bag, separate from his or her lunch.
- Swim goggles (for swim lessons) – For safety reasons we ask that you do not send goggles that cover your child’s eyes and nose.
- Ear plugs (for swimming, if needed)
- Sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Rain coat
- Light jacket
Campers will bring home a note from their counselors regarding anything extra they will need to bring to camp for special activities (i.e. long pants for horseback rides).
