Who is Day Camp for?
Day Camp is for boys and girls ages 5-12 |
| |
How much does Day Camp Cost?
The 2013 Day Camp Rates are:
Traditional Day Camp--$110/week
Equestrian Day Camp--$150/week
Bus Transportation--$30/week |
|
How are campers separated into groups?
Day Campers are broken up into groups of 10-12. Trailgroups are co-ed and based on age, with all campers being within 1 year of each other in order to provide more age-appropriate activities. Our age units are: Blazers (5-6 yr olds), Rangers (7-8 yr olds), Explorers (9-10 yr olds), and Voyagers (11-12 yr olds). |
| |
Can my camper be with his/her friend?
Campers can request to be with one other trailmate. This trailmate must be within 1 year of camper and trailmate requests must be mutual. Day Camp is a place to meet new friends and therefore we try not to group several friends together as this detracts from the camp experience for all members of the trailgroup. Due to certain circumstances, Camp Tecumseh may not be able to accommodate all requests. |
| |
I see that each week of Day Camp has a theme. What does that involve?
Yes, every week of Day Camp has a different theme. The theme each week will dictate the different styles of games that we play, the word of the day, Gold Rush characters, and the Thursday dress-up day. Each Thursday campers are invited to wear their favorite costumes or outfits related to the theme. The trailgroup with the highest participation will get bonus points in Gold Rush! |
| |
How many counselors will be in my camper's trailgroup?
Each trailgroup has two or three counselors. This provides a ratio of 1-6 or better. |
| |
Can I request a particular counselor?
While we know that campers often have a favorite counselor from past weeks or years, we do not accept counselor requests. Due to an ever-changing group of counselors and needs for each week, counselors are assigned to trailgroups based on the best interest of all at camp. |
| |
Who are the counselors?
Day Camp counselors are young men and women ages 17-21. Counselors are chosen for their high-energy, love for kids, and concern for the safety and well-being of everyone at camp. All counselors go through an intense staff training to prepare them to work with children and equip them with skills for conflict resolution, friend-making, and program design. All counselors are background and reference checked to ensure that only the best are chosen as role models for your children. |

What does my chld need to bring to camp each day?
Each day your child will need to bring the following items with them to Day Camp in a backpack.
Please note that your child will be carrying these items with them throughout the day.
- A Sack Lunch--please pack luncs in a paper bag with your child's name clearly written on the outside. (Lunches will be refrigerated upon arrival.)
- Bathing suit and towel--campers will swim every day.

What should I expect on Monday morning when I drop my child off?
On Monday mornings you will want to continue on Tecumseh Bend Rd until you get to the large "Day Camp" signs. There you will see our staff members directing you through the parking lot and around to the Day Camp site. Once you are at the Day Camp site you and your child will head to the registration desk where our staff will ask a couple of questions and get you connected with your child's counselors for the week. Our counselors will ask for any pertinent information, explain the week's schedule and answer any questions you might have. After your child is with his/her counselor you are all set. |
| |
My child has severe nut or other allergies, can he/she still come to camp?
Absolutely. On weeks when we have campers with nut allergies at camp we encourage all parents to not send lunches with nuts and we also separate out camper lunches to make sure they don't come in contact with nuts. Feel free to contact Jordan (daycamp@camptecumseh.org), the Day Camp Director, to discuss specific needs. |
| |
Where is the "Flora (Old Elementary)" bus stop?
This stop is on Main Street in Flora, just West of Bright St in front of the old Elementary School. |
| |
Is there a doctor or nurse at camp in case my child is sick?
Yes, each week we have a registered nurse or EMT at day camp. In addition to this we have a full-time summer nurse who is at camp 24 hours a day during the summer and is available to help immediately when needed. |

I have more questions that aren't answered here.
