Equestrian
Camp is a terrific combination of horseback riding plus traditional
camp activities for guys and gals 11 to 15 years of age. Most
of the program takes place at the Lakeside Center on the Kettlehut
Farmstead property of camp. The horse activities take place
at the indoor arena and four outdoor arenas of the Equestrian
Center located on the west side of Richard Marsh Lake.
Equestrian campers receive high quality instruction. Campers
choose to have instruction in Western or English riding and
are divided into classes by ability. This allows more advanced
riders to experience jumping, dressage, reining or trail/obstacle
type classes. While the less experienced are learning grooming
and tacking techniques as well as basic riding skills. Each
class has a four rider to one instructor ratio which keeps instruction
on a more individual level. Campers will also learn and practice
horse safety and horse management.

Equestrian camper's schedule of activities will include riding
twice a day. On Tuesday and Thursday each camper will choose
2 activities which include: mounted games, vaulting, bathing,
clipping, trail obstacles, riding bareback, and drill team.
Throughout the week the equestrian camper will be challenged
to better their riding ability and futher their horse knowledge.
At the end of the week a bolo tie is given for each level of
horsemanship (knowledge/riding ability) mastered. There are
also trophies for a camper's 3rd, 4th, and 5th years.

Although the schedule for Equestrian Camp is quite different,
there is plenty of time for interaction with the rest of camp.
Equestrian campers attend morning chapel, meals, opening/closing
campfire, and all-camp games. Each cabin also participates in
activities with the rest of its age group. These activities
may include discussions, games, barbecues, and swim times. Equestrian
cabins may also choose to challenge a main camp cabin to an
evening game of volleyball or join with another cabin for a
cookout and an overnight.
Spaces are limited so plan to register early to reserve your
spot in one of the best riding camps in the country!
