First Time at Overnight Camp:
What Campers Say
At the end of camp, we invite campers and their parents to fill out an Evaluation Form together. We love getting feedback from everyone. But we especially like hearing from our first-timers and their parents. Why? Because we make a special effort to ensure that changes (like going to overnight camp for the first time) is an opportunity to help campers grow and mature.
Here are just a few of the comments we’ve received from first-timers and their parents. If you’re the parent of a first-timer, we hope these make you as excited about camp as we are!
“We sent our kids for the first time this year and they loved it. They are already registered for next year. They were all smiles when we picked them up. They even made us drive all around camp to show us their favorite places and clinic spots. They feel more independent and they got to do activities they can’t do at home. Plus they made great new friends!”
– Parents of 11-year-old and 12-year-old
“Camp Tecumseh is very beautiful and the staff is really friendly. It is an excellent camp experience, even if you have never been to camp before. I am definitely going back and I would strongly recommend it.”
– Camper, age 13
“Sending our children away for a week is very scary. The fears are diminished when Camp Tecumseh is concerned. You are able to view photos daily and I know she is with staff that promotes God, love, respect, kindness, and so much more. Living in a world where you cannot talk freely about God, I am so thankful to the Camp Tecumseh staff for encouraging communication and actions that show God’s love!”
– Mother of 10-year-old
“This was our 13 year old son’s first time away at camp and he had an awesome time. He loved the activities and the counselors and said he learned more about God. We plan to return next year.”
– Parent of 13-year-old
“This was our daughter’s first sleep-away camp and she absolutely loved it! The counselors are so welcoming and loving and make the week so fun for everyone. We can’t wait to come back next summer.”
– Parent of 9-year-old
“This was our teen-aged son’s first experience at a camp and it was so great for him! It’s too bad he couldn’t have experienced Camp Tecumseh sooner!”
