We were excited to learn from a group staying at the Leadership Center this weekend. that there actually is a copyrighted holiday on February 20th of each year. It is called “Hoodie-Hoo” day and it is celebrated by going out at noon, waving your hands over your head, and chanting “Hoodie-Hoo.” It is a day designed to chase away the winter blahs and bring in spring.

Scrapbooking Hoodie-Hoo Day Ladies
Julie Geisler, a Creative Memories consultant from Lafayette has been bringing her scrapbookers twice a year to the Leadership Center since the spring of 2005 and it is their tradition to celebrate “Hoodie Hoo” day when it corresponds with their visit here to camp. To add to the fun, the ladies also design and wear a special “Hoodie Hoo” hat which they don just prior to their noon-time chant. They were also kind enough to design a special hat for Neal Morehead, the staff person serving them over the weekend.

TLC Director Neal Morehead was presented with his own Hoodie-Hoo Day Hat!
Much fun was had by all and after a few rounds of chanting “Hoodie Hoo,” there was definitely a noticeable spring-like thaw in the air. Maybe it wasn’t such a crazy idea after all.

Camp Staff spotted these three swans on the Tippecanoe River today. I was able to snap a shot of one of them catching and eating a fish. This eagle just happened to be flying up the river while I was photographing the swans and I managed to get a good picture of it as well. Notice that one of the swans has a darker and softer looking head. I believe it is younger and referred to as a signet swan. Please leave comment if you know more on swans. It’s great to see them in the wild.

Here are two more doors to identify. If you look closely, you can see Dave’s reflection in one of the doors as he takes the picture. Please leave comments if you know where they are.

The door on the left is from one of the new cabins in Oregon Territory. Just like the new cabins in Lake Village, these new cabins have porches and doors on both the front and back side. The “Historic Cabin” was preserved and situated on the corner by the swimming pools. This cabin is open year round for campers to enter and discover a little history about Camp T.
