Alumni and
Friends
of Camp Tecumseh YMCA
What is a Torchbearer? Torchbearers are a group of
committed Alumni and other friends of the camp whose mission is "to
connect the values, friendships and memories associated with Camp
Tecumseh YMCA to opportunities for continuing interpersonal contact
and service to camp." Put another
way, Torchbearers are individuals with a Camp Tecumseh "connection"
who have come together to extend their association with Camp Tecumseh
and with each other - in one way or another - to serve, support and
encourage Camp and all the people associated with it. Torchbearers
have no monthly meetings, no initiation fee or annual dues. No secret
handshake. Some individuals serve on the programs leadership team to
plan and organize events and projects. The expenses of the programs
are covered by contributions to Camp Tecumseh YMCA - Torchbearers.
How do I become a Torchbearer? Campers in their
last year at camp are enrolled in the youth division of the
Torchbearers in a special ceremony at a closing campfire. For
the rest of us it's as easy as completing the application
found here online.
Once a Torchbearer,
you will choose how you want to pursue our mission - whether by
telling your relatives, friends and neighbors the Camp Tecumseh story
or keeping in touch with rediscovered friends from your days at camp,
join others for a work/fun session or perhaps being a volunteer at the
Nature Center, the opportunities are countless. Join us in helping to
preserve and perpetuate those things from Camp that mean the most to
you. |
