Preparing for your Camp Tecumseh trip

We are so excited to welcome you to Camp Tecumseh. We’ve compiled some helpful information to ensure you and your child are ready for an unforgettable experience.

What to Bring (and not bring) to Camp

With your trip right around the corner, it’s important you bring what you need. 

Camp Essentials

  • Sleeping bag for each person or twin extra-long sheets and blankets
  • Pillow
  • Towels

Clothing

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Seasonally-appropriate outerwear that can be easily layered
  • Rain wear
  • Good shoes (including sneakers or hiking boots)
  • Water Shoes (if participating in a float trip)
  • Sleepwear

Personal Care

How To Get to Camp Tecumseh

We’re located at 12635 W Tecumseh Bend Road, Brookston, IN 47923. We’re 2 hours south of Chicago, and an hour and a half north of Indianapolis.

Arrival

Arriving at Camp Tecumseh

When you arrive, look for a directional sign with your group’s name and follow the arrows to your destination. Camp Staff will be ready and waiting to meet you upon arrival and direct you to your accommodations.

Please don’t arrive more than 30 minutes before scheduled arrival time. Our staff will be unable to greet you as they will be involved in preparation.

Meals

Meals at Camp

All meals provided by Camp will be served in Scheumann Lodge, the River Village lodge, or the Tecumseh Leadership Center, depending on the village your group is staying in. Food is served buffet style. We eat at large circular tables, which are  conducive to conversation. If you have special dietary needs, please fill out our special dietary needs form.

Bed Linens Service

Does your group need linens?

Linen service, providing sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels) is available for an addition fee to groups requesting this service in advance. Group leaders are responsible for informing participants to bring bedding and towels if this service will not be provided by Camp.

 

Connectivity

Internet and cell service

high speed wireless internet is available in all lodges and meeting spaces free of charge, although it is not available in cabins. Cell service by all major providers varies depending on location.

Communication

If you need to reach us

If somebody needs to get in touch with you urgently, please have them call the office number (765-564-2898) and one of our office staff will be able to contact them. For after-hours emergency needs only, please call the same number and follow the prompts. You will press 5 to reach the after-hours cell phone.

Cell phone coverage at camp varies depending on provider. Each dining hall has Internet access available on computers and we have a Skype Internet telephone available. We also have WiFi capability if you bring your own laptop. Camp computers are only to be used by adults.
